Basic Injection Molding Operations Training
is an introductory course describing molding machine parts and operation, operator responsibilities, safe practices and identifying part defects. It is ideal for all operators,entry-level employees, temporary employees, and even job candidates. Also available in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

Quality, safety and profit all start with the press operators, material handlers and part handlers on the production floor, but their training may not get the attention it deserves. Problems from simple inefficiency to serious safety violations may result if employees do not have a thorough understanding of their duties.
This introductory course is designed for entry-level personnel. It is also effective as a refresher course for veteran employees and as a method of employee job screening. Content includes molding machine parts and operation, operator responsibilities, safe practices, and identifying part defects.
Lesson 1 – Part I
This lesson starts with an overview of the injection molding process,then covers basic material handling do’s and don’ts, machine part identification and standard operator responsibilities during the holding cycle. Emphasis is given to operating safety, protection of molds from damage, and proper plastic art.
Lesson 2 – Part II
This lesson further explains molding machine operations. It also teaches operators the basics of regrinding, how to properly trim flash and degating plastic parts from runners. Employees are taught to identify common part defects such as short shots, flash wrap, surface defects and color changes.
